Our Canvas LMS Training Program is designed to provide you with the ability to create a course from scratch, or migrate an existing course from ANGEL.

Join us to learn how to use Canvas effectively with your students, complete the first five workshops and receive your certification and digital badge.

About the Canvas Learning Path workshops:

The Canvas Learning Path Workshops were developed by Penn State ITS and TLT to facilitate faculty learning of our new learning management system.  It is divided into six parts:

  1. Get Started with Canvas
  2. Transition to Canvas from ANGEL
  3. Create and Organize your Canvas Course
  4. Communicate and Discuss
  5. Assess, Grade and Monitor Student Work
  6. Facilitate Collaborative Learning with Groups

Each Learning Path Workshop is a hands-on training session. Faculty who attend the sessions will be certified with the ability to:

  1. Log-in and navigate the Canvas Learning Management System user interface
  2. Export current ANGEL course content into archive files
  3. Import ANGEL course archives into Canvas Master Courses or sandbox
  4. Create new modules, assignments, pages and upload files into a Canvas course
  5. Create new assessments with new questions, and import existing questions into Canvas question banks
  6. Create rubrics for assignments, quizzes and discussions in Canvas courses
  7. Set up and use the gradebook according to course syllabi, create grading schemes, import/export grade files and provide grading notes for students using SpeedGrader.
  8. Use Conversations and Announcements to communicate course details with students
  9. Use Canvas Chat and Conferences to communicate with students in real time, used for online office hours or special study sessions
  10. Use Course Analytics to view student activity, submissions, quiz statistics, and grade distribution
