About the Canvas Learning Path workshops:
The Canvas Learning Path Workshops were developed by Penn State ITS and TLT to facilitate faculty learning of our new learning management system. It is divided into six parts:
- Get Started with Canvas
- Transition to Canvas from ANGEL
- Create and Organize your Canvas Course
- Communicate and Discuss
- Assess, Grade and Monitor Student Work
- Facilitate Collaborative Learning with Groups
Each Learning Path Workshop is a hands-on training session. Faculty who attend the sessions will be certified with the ability to:
- Log-in and navigate the Canvas Learning Management System user interface
- Export current ANGEL course content into archive files
- Import ANGEL course archives into Canvas Master Courses or sandbox
- Create new modules, assignments, pages and upload files into a Canvas course
- Create new assessments with new questions, and import existing questions into Canvas question banks
- Create rubrics for assignments, quizzes and discussions in Canvas courses
- Set up and use the gradebook according to course syllabi, create grading schemes, import/export grade files and provide grading notes for students using SpeedGrader.
- Use Conversations and Announcements to communicate course details with students
- Use Canvas Chat and Conferences to communicate with students in real time, used for online office hours or special study sessions
- Use Course Analytics to view student activity, submissions, quiz statistics, and grade distribution
