Dr. Wafa recently announced that our area will be migrated to Office 365 on March 19.
I’d like to follow up with some information regarding what you can be doing in the coming week to prepare for the migration.
Training
To help prepare you for the applications Office 365 offers, Penn State Information Technology (IT) has created online Learning Paths that provide an overview of Office 365 and highlight popular applications. Training resources including Learning Paths, can be accessed at the Penn State Office 365 Training webpage. I encourage you to take some time to review the courses and familiarize yourself with how Office 365 can improve your productivity and digital fluency.
The IT staff at Scranton will also offer hands-on training on the Office 365 applications as appropriate in the coming months.
Please note that after migration, we will be using Outlook for email. If you are not familiar with Outlook and Calendar, I encourage you to go through the Outlook Learning Path and the Sharing & Collaboration in Office 365 Learning Path found at the training link above before March 19. We’ll also be offering hands on-training after the migration.
Migration Preparations
Penn State IT has created a checklist to help us prepare for migration. The checklist is divided into three parts: what you as an end user should do prior, during, and after migration.
You can find this checklist at this link: Office 365 Checklist
At this time, everyone should become familiar with and execute the steps in the “Before Migration” checklist. To assist you in the process, IT Staff will be available to help you through the checklist and answer any questions you may have. Training sessions will be available for faculty & staff according to the chart below. No registration is necessary, stop by with your questions as your schedule permits.
Please feel free to call or email me if you have any additional questions or suggestions as we move forward. Thank you.
Regards, Marilee
